Bordeaux wine tour: wine tasting and visiting Saint Emilion and Pomerol

Share/like this post:

We had a fabulous wine tour two weeks ago in Bordeaux, including Saint Emilion, Pomerol and Castillon.

We talked with the winemakers about the new Saint Emilion classification (the very day it was published!), about how the work in the vineyards to make great wines, and tasted a lot of outstanding examples of it. Lunch at a chateau and at a country side restaurant, dinner at the two best restaurants (on two separate evenings….) of the region. And lots and lots of excellent wines tasted in confidential (private) tastings.

Here is part two of the photos and videos.

Saint Emilion and Pomerol wines at the winery of one of the top wine estates in Saint Emilion in Bordeaux. We taste a range of different wines and different vintages together with the winery manager.

Our tasting line-up of Saint Emilion and Pomerol wines at the small family-owned winery in Pomerol this day, the Chateau Vieux Maillet on the wine tour in the Bordeaux region. After a vineyard and wine cellar visit we take the time to taste several vintages and different wines in a private tasting together with the winery manager: Chateau Vieux Maillet in Pomerol, Chateau de Lussac, Chateau Franc Mayne and and the tiny and exclusive Chateau Saint Jean de Lavaud, in Saint Emilion and Pomerol…

The town of Saint Emilion is the focal point of the vineyards and wineries on the “right bank” in Bordeaux. On our wine tours to the Bordeaux region we always take the time for a stroll along the narrow alleys in the village. And perhaps a glass of wine or two or a visit to a wine shop. From the village square you have a beautiful view.

Lunching in a country restaurant among the vineyards in Bordeaux. Many delicious regional dishes to choose from. Here we combine a typical foie gras de canard with a dry and crispy Bordeaux wine.

  2. Hi,

Landing in Barcelona next Month and planning on visiting Bordeaux region September 13-14 for wine tasting x2 full days. Would be myself and wife and are interested in a private tour. We are coming from the states. We tend to stray away from the large, touristic wineries and enjoy nice landscapes. Availability?
