Visit a biodynamic winery in Chianti, and enjoy a home cooked meal at Fattoria Poggerino

Share/like this post:

The Fattoria Poggerino is one of the few organic and biodynamic wineries in Chianti. It is run by Piero and Benedetta Lanza, brother and sister. Piero runs the wine cellar and Benedetta runs their agriturismo as well as being a very talented cook. We often stop by for a lunch and wine tasting when we are in Tuscany.

Poggerino makes a range of wines and it is always exiting to taste them, be it over lunch or in the winery or wine cellar. They make an unusual rosé made from sangiovese grapes, two Chianti wines and also a “super Tuscan” blend with international grape varieties and a bit more barrel ageing.

You can learn more about them in our interview with Piero that is published on BKWine Magazine:

We lunched at Fattoria Poggerino in Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, where Benedetta, one of the owners has prepared her own very special Tuscan meal. She uses a lot of herbs from Poggerino’s own garden as well as fresh vegetables. Over lunch Piero, the winemaker, lets us taste hes range of wines and explains how he works in the wine cellar. All the time with a beautiful view over the Tuscan landscape and the Poggerino vineyards.

At the Fattoria Poggerino winery in Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, we are presented both with their excellent wines as well as a true home-cooked gourmet meal made by Benedetta, one of the owners. Juicy roast with fresh tomatoes and rosemary, sage and other herbs directly from the garden.

After a delicious lunch at Fattoria Poggerino in Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, we take a walk in the vineyards. To the left we have sangiovese that is ripe and ready for harvest, ready to be brought into the winery that is at the bottom of the hill. To the right we have a newly planted vineyard with baby vines.
