Glenwood Vineyards is hidden away in a small valley a few kilometres away from the busy town of Franschhoek. It is tucked away in the Robertsvlei Valley, with a micro climate all of its own. Cooler than down in the main Franschhoek Valley and not so dry. Actually, in winter it is one of the rainier areas in the Western Cape.
The vineyards are surrounded by high mountains; a small river flows between the vines. When you arrive at the winery you can look out over the vines, the mountains, a small pond. Peace and quiet. Good wines and good food.
Glenwood have several times been on our itinerary for the wine tour to South Africa. It is not a winery that the casual visitor to Franschhoek finds by chance. You have to know where to go but it is definitely a worth-while excursion.
We have recently published an article on Glenwood Vineyards on BKWine Magazine: DP Burger at Glenwood Vineyards in Franschhoek, South Africa, interview and videos.
There you will also find several videos with the winemaker from the visits we have previously made there. Do click over to BKWine Magazine and read the full article and watch all the videos.
Here are just a few of them as teasers, plus some pictures.
And if that makes you want to go visit the South African wine regions, don’t worry, here you have our program for the South Africa wine tour.
