Like Tuscany but with fewer tourists, is one way of describing le Marche. In other words, a stunningly beautiful landscape that you find between the mountains and the Adriatic Sea. Since fewer tourists come here there is a charm in Le Marche which is more difficult to find today in Tuscany.
The wines have taken a little time to become known. So you may even feel a little like a pioneer in le Marche. You will discover something that not everyone knows. There is a certain satisfaction in this. That the wines have their own pleasant personality does not make things any worse.
Up on top of the hills you will find the medieval villages looking down over the vineyards, olive trees and narrow winding roads. Le Marche is a small region, one of Italy’s smallest, but the variation among wine types and styles is great. The white is made from the Verdicchio grape, the reds from Sangiovese and Montepulciano. They are very drinking-friendly wines that sometimes also can reach high up on the top wine quality scale. The local cuisine, with for example a very good lasagne, fits naturally best.
