What do travellers think about the Champagne tour? “Fantastic. Would never go with anyone else on a wine tour”

Champagne, the world’s most famous bubbly wine. But champagne is so much more than a wine only for celebration and festivities. It’s a great wine with its very own characters and can go wonderfully well with food.

Many people tend to focus entirely on the famous “houses”, the famous brands that you can find on the shelves of all the world’s airports. (And whose names are well-known to everyone.) The famous champagne brands that make one think of glitter and glamor (rather than of good wine?). But that’s a mistake. There’s so much more to discover.

Traveling in Champagne, you have to take the opportunity to experience the “real” Champagne, not just the glamour, to meet the smaller producers who make wines full of character from grapes from their own vineyards. (Most famous houses buy grapes from others.) Then you will experience a whole different dimension of Champagne, the region, and of champagne, the wine. And wines that are often of a quality that far exceeds many famous names, but that costs half as much.

On our Champagne wine tours we show both aspects (and much more) of this wine region. The cellars with millions of bottles in stock and kilometres of tunnels, and also the family wineries where we are received by both the wine maker and the owner, because it is the same person.

Here are some comments from some who have travelled with us in Champagne.

On the wine tour in Champagne:

I have just been on a fantastic tour to Reims in France (Champagne region) with BKWine Wine Tours under Britt Karlsson’s leadership. I have learned a lot about how champagne is made. The program was very well planned with visits and tastings at many different producers each day. We have had fantastic lunches at the producers’ or at luxurious restaurants like Les Avisés. We were there when the harvest began and had the good fortune to visit a producer who let us follow the whole process from when the grapes were picked, all by hand, and then were taken to the winery and put in the press where the grape juice comes out. Really interesting to see. If you want to learn more about champagne this is the tour for you.

On the wine tour in Champagne:

Thank you dear Britt for another great tour with you, my fifth wine tour and certainly not the last one. Everything was just soooo good. My friend Maria became (just like me) quite euphoric about both you and how you managed the tour, your professionalism, how you had planned the program and the whole group, and said she would never go on a wine tour with another tour organiser than you.

I’m back home again and thinking of what amazing, fantastic days we’ve had in France. I have really learned a lot and have got an understanding what craft it is to make wine. You made this trip really interesting thanks to all the different wineries we visited and also those lovely lunches we enjoyed. A big thank you and I hope we meet again.

Thank you for a few extremely enjoyable and informative days in Reims. There’s been a lot to digest on the way home, not only the delicious wines and lunches. My relationship with champagne has come to a new dimension. You and Carl-Edmund infected us with your knowledge and enthusiasm.

On the wine tour in Champagne:

Once again thanks for a very enjoyable tour, full of new experiences, in Champagne. We are at least as happy with this as with all previous tours with you and BKWine. Now we have also developed our own wine knowledge so that we dare to make our own visits and go to the wineries visit their wine cellars. R is most happy about this since has a special sense of smells, taste and style.
