UNESCO World Heritage Wine region #4: Piedmont

Share/like this post:

I recently wrote about wine regions which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here comes the next wine district.

Also Piedmont is on the UNESCO World Heritage sites thanks to its landscape. It is a different landscape, not as stunningly spectacular as the Douro, but beautiful in a different way with its rolling hills. They also have world famous wines, in the forefront Barolo and Barbaresco, but also many more. And they have the truffle. The famous white truffle from Alba.

Piedmont is also a very popular wine tour destination on our travel program. We always have it in the fall because that is when it is truffle season, so the program will be garnished with both exclusive wine tastings, truffle tasting meals and the truffles market. (Worth noting: if you see someone who organizes a truffle tour to Piedmont in the spring or in summer, you should think twice. That is not in truffle season so one may wonder what kind of truffles they find then.)

Our next wine and truffles tour to Piedmont will be in October, on our Swedish schedule. It is currently only available in English as a custom wine and gourmet tour for groups.

Read more on the wine regions that have been included on the Unesco World Heritage list; the next article will be published in a day or so.
