One does not hear much about Sicily as wine district. Unfortunately. It is actually one of Italy’s biggest wine regions, the fourth largest. They make a great variety of wines and wine styles in Sicily. This is not at all strange because Sicily is like a whole continent in itself, even in terms of nature and climate.
What first comes to mind is perhaps the full-bodied red wines made from the signature grape nero d’avola but, as I mentioned, it’s far from the only thing they do here. For example, you have the slim, elegant red wines from the slopes of Etna, which are more reminiscent of Burgundy or Nebbiolo from Piedmont. You can also find excellent fresh white wines and deliciously smooth sweet wines made from sun-dried grapes. Not to forget Marsala for the enthusiast of fortified wines.
Perhaps this is the most striking characteristic of all of Sicily. The variation and diversity. The landscape has wonderful beaches, fruit plantations on the plains, and Etna that reaches over 10,000 feet altitude. There is much to discover, both in terms of wine, gastronomy, culture and beautiful vistas.

On the wine tour to Sicily:
We would like to thank you for another wonderful wine tour. This time to Sicily. We became very fond of both the island and its wines, and both made us yearn for more. It was amazingly beautiful. We enjoyed wonderful lunches in Taormina and Syracuse.
